Dagou - Andelour Reference

Physical Properties

Dagou have two horns on their heads.

-The shape/style is up to the artist.
-They must grow roughly from around the area indicated on the ref sheet.
-They can be decorated or painted or modified artificially as well.
-The color of their horns is the same color as their hooves, for the most part.

Their ears are animal-esque.

-Upswept or downswept, floppy or perky, up to the artist.
-These ears are the most flexible of all ear types, able to swivel, droop, and perk up.

Have tails.

-They are always upswept and short, like that of a deer.
-Can wag or droop (there is a bone in them, they are moveable)

Legs are powerful.

-Their "knees" are in the bend on the upper part of their leg. What looks like a "knee" is actually a very high back-ankle bone type of thing. Check out a real deer's bone structure to see what I mean! (or a horse...etc).
-Their ankles are the most delicate bones in their bodies, however, so they often wear ankle armor or braces.
-They can run faster than any other race; on the downside, they do not make turns well when at full speed.
-Their feet end in hooves - not cloven hooves, but horse-like ones.
-They can swim, but not as quickly or as easily as other races due to these feet.

Have fur.

-On the ears, it starts at the base of the ear and is very fine and soft.
-On the legs, fur begins around their hips/waist area, and is thicker and coarser.
-All fur is either the same color as their hair, or a closely related color thereof.

Skin is within normal color range.

-From deep black to porcelain white, that is.

Clothing

Less on the legs than on the top, due to the fur on their bottom halves.
Cloth and textiles for anything outside of armor.

-They don't like using furs, hides, or even leather because it came from animals. However, during the Age of Conflict, they realized the usefulness of leather armors. They prefer to use leather made from sea creatures or other animals they cannot speak with, however.

Jewelry tends to be carved wood, totem-esque claws or polished stones, very tribal in nature.

Weapons

Hammers and Clubs: Clubs are anything blunt-force trauma-inducing, with a strike area of 1/3 or more of the overall length of the weapon. Hammers, on the other hand, have specific heads to them. However, they only have two main striking surfaces.

Boomerangs: Their most famous weapon, though this category also includes small projectiles, such as slings.

Knuckles: Dagou are very good with close-quarter combat, and though this says "knuckles," it often includes both feet and hands. Their style tends to be swift and light, ready to leap out of the way.

Runes: Also called "totems," these are carved pieces of wood used by a Dagou to summon their contracted beasts. The Dagou makes it themselves, and offers one half of the token to the beast to wear upon contract. Whichever beast is wearing the token when the Dagou uses it to summon is the beast that gets pulled to the summoner. It only works on land animals. To activate, the Dagou uses a short chant (that is, both correct words and limited tune are required). These runes can later be modified - embossed, or embellishments added - to draw on the summoner's power and grant it to their summon beast while they are present.
